Laurel Toto

Movement Workshop Designer

Laurel Toto began studying dance with Anna and Igor Yousketivich in her native Brooklyn, and continued her training in Manhattan at the High School of the Performing Arts and the Joffrey School of Ballet. She performed with Ballet Hysell and the New Orleans Ballet.

Ms. Toto took the Teacher Training Program at Canada's National Ballet School and joined the NBS staff in 1980. In 1991, she traveled to London to attend the spring and summer sessions of the Royal Ballet and the Vaganova schools.

Exceptionally gifted in her work with younger children, Ms. Toto teaches ballet, pointe, historical dance and character to students in the professional Ballet and Academic Program at NBS. She is also a team leader on NBS's National tour auditioning prospective student's coast-to coast.

Ms. Toto is in charge of rehearsing NBS students for National Ballet of Canada Productions such as The Nutcracker, The Contract and Pastorale. She has accompanied the Company's Nutcracker tour to Japan, Pastorale tour to Germany and to New York with The Contract tour.

In 1997 Ms. Toto became the Manager of the Associates Program at Canada's National Ballet School.
